For contestants, stock contractors, judges, officials, and event personnel whose information appears in RodeoStat
Why you're reading this
You probably don't have a RodeoStat account. You may never have heard of us.
We still hold information about you, because you competed, contracted stock, judged, or worked at a rodeo, and results from that rodeo are part of our dataset. This notice explains what we hold, where we got it, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
If you'd rather just talk to a person: privacy@rodeostat.com.
1. Who we are
RodeoStat LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company.
4764 W Integrity Way #238, Appleton, WI 54913, United States
RodeoStat builds statistics and preparation tools used by rodeo announcers, production companies, associations, and events. We compile competition results into profiles so an announcer can look up an athlete or an animal and know their record.
We are an independent company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the PRCA, WPRA, CPRA, NIRA, or any other rodeo association.
2. What we hold about you
Depending on your role, this may include:
If you're a contestant
- Your name and, where available, your competitor or membership number
- Your association affiliation and circuit
- Your hometown, state or province, and country
- Your age division or category, and in some cases your age or date of birth
- The rodeos and events you entered
- Your times, scores, placings, penalties, disqualifications, turn-outs, and doctor releases
- Your season and career earnings and standings position
- Your draw and, for rough stock and team events, your pairing
- A biography, where one has been published or provided
If you're a stock contractor
- Your name and business name
- The animals associated with your brand, their names, bib numbers, and performance records
If you're a judge, official, or event personnel
- Your name and role
- The rodeos and performances you worked
- Marks and assignments where those are published
We do not hold your Social Security number, financial account numbers, home street address, phone number, email address, health records, or precise location.
3. Where we got it
Publicly available sources. Association websites, published results, standings pages, daysheets, programs, and press releases.
Our customers. Associations, committees, rodeos, production companies, and announcers who upload daysheets and results into our tools.
Manual entry. Our staff enter results from published sources.
We do not buy your information from data brokers.
4. What we do with it
- Build a profile of your competitive record so announcers can reference it accurately on air
- Compute statistics: averages, ride percentages, career totals, standings, and rankings
- Match records across sources so your results from different associations appear under one profile instead of several
- Display your record in our applications, in embedded standings widgets on association and event websites, and through our data services
- Improve our software, including the systems that read documents and match names
5. Whether we sell it
We may license and sell competition data, statistics, and standings to associations, media organizations, sponsors, and analytics partners. Competition results are public sporting records, and distributing them is part of what we do.
This may include licensing data to licensed sports wagering and fantasy sports operators. We want to be upfront about that. To be clear about what we do and don't do:
- RodeoStat does not run any betting operation. We don't take bets, hold money, or pay out. We supply data.
- We will never include anyone under 18 in data licensed for wagering purposes.
- We will never include youth, junior, high school, college, or amateur divisions in data licensed for wagering purposes.
- If you don't want your information in commercially licensed data, tell us and we'll flag your records. See Section 8.4. No explanation needed, no cost, and it doesn't affect anything else.
We do not sell your information to data brokers, people-search services, or advertisers.
If you are under 18
We do not sell, share, or license information we identify as relating to a person under 18: not to sponsors, not to analytics companies, and not to any wagering or fantasy operator. We do not use it for advertising. We apply technical controls designed to keep flagged records out of every commercial pipeline.
If you're a parent or guardian and you want your child's information reviewed, corrected, or removed, email privacy@rodeostat.com and we'll take care of it. We'll verify that you're the parent or guardian first.
6. Who sees it
- Announcers and production companies who subscribe to our tools
- Associations, committees, and events that use our data services
- The public, where results appear in embedded standings widgets or public pages
- Our service providers, listed at rodeostat.com/legal/subprocessors
- Licensees, as described in Section 5
7. How long we keep it
Competition results are kept indefinitely.
We understand this may not be what you want to hear, so here's our reasoning: rodeo results are a historical record of public athletic competition. Removing a result would falsify the record, break the standings and career statistics that depend on it, and defeat the archival purpose of the dataset. Newspapers don't unpublish box scores. We take the same position.
That said, we will correct anything that's wrong, and there are things we will remove. See the next section.
8. What you can ask us to do
8.1 Correct something
This is the request we most want you to make. If a time, score, placing, hometown, or spelling is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it. Wrong data helps nobody, least of all you when an announcer reads it on air.
Email privacy@rodeostat.com with what's wrong and what it should be. Include a source if you have one: an association record, a results sheet, a program.
8.2 See what we have
Ask and we'll send you a copy of what we hold about you.
8.3 Have your biography or added content removed
Biographical text, notes, and non-result content about you can be removed on request.
8.4 Opt out of commercial licensing
You may ask us to exclude your personal information from data we license or sell to third parties. Your competition results will remain in our tools and in the public record, but we will flag your records so they aren't included in commercial data products.
8.5 Ask us to delete
You may request deletion. We'll be straight with you about what happens:
- We will remove biographical content, photographs, notes, contact information, any account you have, and any non-result information about you.
- We will generally retain your competition results, times, scores, placings, and earnings, for the reasons in Section 7. Depending on where you live, the law may not require us to delete a public sporting record, and we may have a legitimate basis to keep it.
- We will consider whether your results can be dissociated from other identifying details in our systems.
- We will tell you specifically what we removed and what we kept, and why.
If you disagree with our decision, you can appeal: see Section 10.
8.6 Object
You may object to our processing of your information. Tell us why, and we'll weigh your reasons against our purposes and give you a written answer.
9. How to make a request
Email privacy@rodeostat.com or use the form at rodeostat.com/legal/privacy-choices.
Please include:
- Your full name as it appears in results
- Your association and competitor number, if you know it
- Your hometown as it appears in results
- What you're asking for
Verification. Because we don't have an account relationship with you, we need to confirm you are who you say you are before we change or release anything. We'll ask you to confirm details that match our records, and in some cases for a copy of an association membership card or photo ID. We use identity documents only to verify your request and delete them immediately afterward.
Timing. We'll acknowledge within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time we'll tell you why and take no more than another 45 days.
Cost. Free. We won't charge you, and we won't treat you differently for asking.
Authorized agents. Someone can make a request for you with your written permission. We may still contact you to confirm.
10. If you're not satisfied
Reply to our response with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line and we'll have someone review it fresh. We'll respond within 45 days.
If you're still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general, or, depending on where you live, your provincial privacy commissioner, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the ANPD in Brazil, or INAI in Mexico.
11. A note for associations, committees, and events
If you provide contestant data to RodeoStat, you are responsible under our Terms of Service for:
- Giving your participants a privacy notice covering the sharing of their results with third-party service providers
- Obtaining parental or guardian consent where participants are minors
- Confirming you have the right to share the data you send us
You are welcome to link to this notice in your own entry forms, waivers, and privacy policies. Linking to it does not discharge your own obligations, but it does tell your participants where their data goes and gives them somewhere to go with questions.
If you'd like a short paragraph to drop into your entry form, email privacy@rodeostat.com and we'll send you one.
12. Where the Services are available
RodeoStat is offered exclusively in the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
